Innovative Gameplay Mechanics

Snekris is not your ordinary snake game. Here, the goal transcends beyond merely growing long. Mastery involves controlling Snekkie's length while indulging in a strategic feast.

With distinct types of food and a plethora of special items, every bite is a step towards glory. But beware, colliding with any of the many dangerous obstacles could spell the end of your high-scoring quest.

Special Items and their effects

  • EAT to grow and score basic points (duh!)
  • eat MAGIC MARBLES (sounds weird, I know) and turn all food into her favorite
  • stack up MULTIPLIERS to score even higher
  • go into CHAIN FRENZY to score unseen amounts of FRENZY POINTS
  • trigger dangerous THUNDERSTORMS and CRANK against the wind
  • get food POISONED and have your stomach all messed up
  • fall into FOOD COMA and become slow as a snail
  • suffer TAIL BITE and lose your preciously grown scales
  • collide with the ever-growing WALL that builds when she doesn't eat her food
  • drop BOMBS to smash the wall into pieces bit by literal bit

I should have asked a week ago, but what do LEVELS do?

It's a progress measure. Simple EXP. The higher your level the more satisfied you can be with your skills :D

i love this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! easily one of my faves on the playdate so far!! i love the learning curve to the scoring system, my current best is around 94000~ points but i know i can beat it now that i understand how to use the poison to my advantage

Thank you! Makes me so happy to hear! It’ll be coming to Catalog soon, which means Snekris will also get access to their leaderboard APIs for some global scoring competition :)

It's a good game, I've been enjoying playing on my commute. A surprising amount of fun and depth, with a bit of charm. Quite a bit going on, and I'd double-dip if it makes it to catalog for the leaderboard.

Thanks for the feedback! It’s really such a shame only catalog games get to implement global leaderboards :

I’m considering adding an external page where people could „submit“ their scores via QR code.

Haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, but really enjoying it so far. It definitely took a game or two to 'get' it. The presentation is 10/10. Very charming and completely up my alley.

😃 thank you so much! Yeah when I explained the concept to my play testers I realized it’s not that easy to explain all the mechanics in just one sentence. But I hope that everything slowly reveals itself and maybe even adds a little to the replay factor if players gradually understand how the different mechanics interact. Always open to suggestions of course if something could be done differently.

Hellooooo dear community 👋

I‘m really excited to share 🐍 Snekris with you and I would love, love, looove to hear your feedback!

Do you find it easy to understand the different scoring mechanics? Is the difficulty well balanced? What do you love about it? What do you think could be improved? I’m always open to constructive feedback 😊

But most importantly, can you beat my own current Highscore of 403.020? 😄

Thank you so much for supporting my playdate game debut 👾
